-2011 is 20-year-old Elvina Valiev, Contestant No. 8. She beat out 29 other competitors for the coveted title over the weekend during a glittering, gala ceremony in the capital city of Kazan. Elvina competed in last year's Miss Tatarstan and was a runner-up to Irina Sharipova, who! represe nted Russia at Miss World 2010. Elvina will represent her republic at the Miss Russia 2011, set for March 5. Tatarstan is a constituent republic of the Russian Federation. Two interesting facts to note about Tatarstan: it is one of the most economically developed regions of Russia, and a majority of the population is Muslim.
