Though her low key departure was only attended by her parent and a close friend, we enjoyed chatting, had some food and last minutes serious conversation regarding the pageant she's going to compete in.

Leila Lopes Miss Universe 2011 Biography:
Born to Cape Verdean immigrants in Benguela, Angola, Lopes is a business management student in Great Britain, where she was crowned Miss Angola UK on October 8, 2010, the official representative of the Angolan community in the United Kingdom to the 2011 Miss Angola pageant.
Lopes, who stands 1.79 m (5 ft 10 12 in) tall, competed as one of 21 finalists in her countrys national beauty pageant, Miss Angola, held in Luanda on December 18, 2010, where she obtained the Photogenic Award and became the eventual winner of the title, gaining the right to represent Angola in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant.
At the finale of Miss Universe 2011 held at the CrediCard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Leila Lopes beats 88 other beauties to win the Miss Universe 2011 tittle. She becomes the first Angolan Miss Universe. Lopes received the title from the former Miss Universe titleholder, Ximena Navarrete of Mexico.

PAGEANTIsland was there at KLIA to witness Sheela's (Miss Global International Malaysia 2011) departure moments. She's off to Jamaica, via London to compete in Miss Global International 2011 pageant scheduled for September end. Her pageant schedule is so pack with activities I just hope she got time to send photos for her fans and family here in Malaysia to see.
PAGEANTIsland was so lucky to get the opportunity to see her grand final evening gown, which is royal ocean blue in color tailor made for her and sponsored by Nthiran Krishnan from Nthiran Couture, among Malaysia's best local designer.PAGEANTIsland loves that gown as it has a long train, brilliant embroidery on the top part and flowy bottom, a queenly yet very modern in design. PAGEANTIsland could not publish the photo of the gown here as permission is needed from Marlene Lim, the MGIM national director.
With her parent blessing and full support from them, I am confident Sheela could achieve success in Miss Global International 2011.

Cuando pequea, como toda nia, Leila Lopes, soaba con ser una reina, y lo logr. Hoy es Miss Universo 2011. Sus primeras palabras como soberana fueron: Gracias Dios, muchas gracias. Fue lo que ped. Cumpl mi sueo, soy Miss Universo. Esta hermosa morena, brilla no slo por su belleza sino tambin por ser una mujer humilde, simptica e inteligente; de hecho, Lopes considera que la inteligencia es un punto relevante para una candidata en este certamen.
Leila nunca estuvo dentro de las favoritas, pero en la pregunta final que el jurado le hizo en la noche de eleccin y coronacin demostr su carisma y su personalidad. Pregunta del jurado Si tuvieras que cambiar una de tu caractersticas fsicas cual sera y porqu? A lo que Leila respondi: Gracias a Dios yo estoy muy satisfecha de la forma como Dios me cre y no cambiara nada.
Esta escultural morena tiene 25 aos de edad y naci el 26 de febrero de 1986, en Benguela, Angola, pas situado en el suroeste de frica. Es estudiante de administracin de empresas y le otorg a su pas la primera corona de Miss Universo y asegur representarlo dignamente y trabajar por la gente ms necesitada de frica.
Miss Universo 2011 admira a Naomi Campbell por su persistencia, determinacin y por su belleza y elegancia dentro y fuera de la pasarela.
Mucho se ha hablado sobre sus orgenes. Algunos medios afirman que los padres de la reina son de Cienfuegos, Cuba, otros aseguran que son inmigrantes de Cabo Verde. The Miss Humanity Pageant presented an opportunity for Cindy to highlight the abrogation of human rights and she has specifically selected Human Trafficking with its attendant sexual exploitation as her platform. She believes that by highlighting modern slavery,she can empower others through awareness and possibly save others from this dehumanising form of bondage.
Muchtime is devotedto playing with her dogs Faye and Lily,and as an arts enthusiast, Cindy enjoys bothperforming and being entertained taking pleasure in latin dance, acting, journaling, as well as savouringa good book or play. Her love for animals has led her to her most recent pursuit, horse-back riding.

Angolan First Lady Ana Paula dos Santos has hailed the victory of compatriot Leila Lopes at the 2011 Miss Universe pageant, saying the victory is for all Angolan women. Speaking to Angola's Public Television (TPA) from Brazil, the First Lady congratulated all Angolans for Lopes' feat. WEAKEST POINTS/MAJOR RUMORS:
*weak sash- the last time they placed was last 1970 in the person of Josephine Lena Wong Jaw Leng(I still believe that sash makes a difference in Miss Universe,if she wore India's sash,she could have placed)
*too formal/boring-sometimes she's looks too serious,people understand that she is the way she is,but most of them say "She could have been more enthusiastic in Brazil!"
*age-based on statistics,Miss Universe still prefers candidates ages 18-22,but hey Miss Angola Leila Lopes just won Miss Universe and she's 25 years old.
*politics- to make way for China to win the crown.That could be possible but cannot be proven.
*Muslim-country- I don't believe this,Miss Universe has allowed Muslim countries to enter the semis in the past

*Miss World Semifinalist -this is big time not true,Yendi Philips of Jamaica and Ada Dela Cruz of Dominican Republic were 1st Runners-up in Miss Universe 2010 & 2009 respectively,not to mention Mpule Kwelaglobe from Botswana who was a non-semifinalist in Miss World 1998 but won Miss Universe 1999 beating the Asian Goddess Miriam Quiambao.There were many cross-overs from Miss World that made it in Miss World.
