www.hectorjoaquin.com . Your Real Source of Beauty Pageants

Tell something about your family, your childhood and your experience in beauty pageants.

I have a big family, whom are my rock and support, they have supported me immensely. Beauty pageants have been a medium to break and come out of my own shell, a motivation to be the best I can be and inspire others, to meet incredible people, learn and grow. It has been tough and not easy at times but it has been nothing but remarkable and life changing.

What is your motto? What does that motto mean to you?

Everything in life has a solution; it all depends on your attitude. In life, I believe it is not ! the situ ation in which you are or find yourself that is important. What matters is your outlook on life and how you face these situations. That is the difference between conformist and a winner.

If you could change one thing about you, what would it be?

That I always am the last to get a joke, I dont know why, but I always get the joke last then I am left laughing by myself for two hours straight.

What is in your bag right now?

My blackberry, wallet, make-up, com cards, sharpie and a book I am reading called Cien aos de soledad by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

How are you preparing for the Miss Universe Dominican Republic pageant?

I am working very hard to reach my goal which is to win Miss Dominican Republic Universe and eventually go to Miss Universe and win the second crown for my country. My training began in New York where I learned to do my own hair and make- up among other classes. Here in Santo Domingo, my day starts at 6 in the morning and ends sometimes 10 or 11pm, I go to the gym every day for two hours with my trainer then I head to my classes in speech, catwalk, stage presence, Dominican History and Culture as well as visits to the spa.

Whats your nickname?

My family and friends call me Fati, short for Fatima. The Miss DR US staff calls me Fafa, I like both (laughs).

What was the most embarrassing moment you ever had?

Probably walking straight into a glass door and hitting myself in the face while talking on the phone. The glass door was so clean! (Laughs).
